First things first, hello. Second thing, I'm almost done with my first semester as a 2nd year. WOOHOO! If you didn't know, this past semester I've been pretty busy. But, I am determined to keep this blog alive even if it means posting once in a blue moon. I recently I went to NYC for Thanksgiving. It was probably the first time I took out my camera to shoot for fun. I am a little rusty. Check out more photos on my flickr

New York: Summer

It's been a long hiatus. Sorry bout that. Here are some updates: I went to New York for vacation, I moved in, celebrated my 19th birthday, and started school. Ahah, I know you missed a lot. But here's a recap about my trip to New York City.
Before visiting this summer, I had only visited the city for very short periods of time. And, I never really left loving the city. But this time was different. After exploring the city for almost 2 weeks, I have grown a little soft spot for NYC (I'm sorry, I still love Boston).
But seriously, I think NYC is one of the best places to people watch. Despite everyone being hyper-focused on reaching their destination, there are pockets of people who take leisure in their breaks. I don't know what it is about them, but those people are really intriguing. I'd like to go back to NYC again just to people watch.

HAHA. If you want to see what else I did check out my flickr or instagram. Beware, my ice-cream tour continued fervently in NY.

2015 Summer Playlist: HotSuds

4:59 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Here's my Summer playlist. Excuse the smudge on the bottom. I went a little crazy with watercolors. For this playlist, I tried recreating Sarah Kim's work that I've seen on her instagram. Her calligraphy and watercolors are absolutely stunning. And here I am playing with a fountain pen and colors, not knowing what I'm doing.

Anyways, feel free to listen to the songs on my playlist. I hope you enjoy it (;

May Eats

There is no place like California, and there is nothing like the food here. Pretty much all throughout May, I've been eating anything and everything. Here's where I've been and my thoughts.

Matcha Swirl

IM BACK, BACK AGAIN. BACK AT BAKING. Honestly it doesn't feel like summer in southern California, right now. It's been super rainy. Even though the weather has been kind of a bummer, i really wanted to try this matcha swirl cookie recipe, here. As you can see, the swirls on my cookies are not as prominent as the ones shown in the original recipe. I think it's because I used matcha latte powder instead of actual matcha. I did have to use a lot more matcha than listed in the recipe, but I think the cookies turned out pretty well despite the slight ingredient change. The cookies actually taste like matcha. Deliciousness!

Post-Freshmen Year

So I finished freshmen year. Only left with a tiny scratch. No seriously, I tripped and fell before my last two finals. Now I have a lovely scab and a broken phone (le sigh). But that's okay because I'm back in CALIFORNIA now! Get ready for more posts. I probably have to learn how to cook this summer since I won't have a meal plan next year. So prepare yourself for more food posts.

This jacket is brighter than half my closet and all my thoughts (jk). Anywhoo here's me lost in MIT. I still can't over the fact that it's above freezing in Boston (and that my freshmen year is coming to an end). I feel this need to experience Boston as much as possible before I leave. So, this Saturday I went out to explore and ended up just exploring MIT. I don't know if it was because it's freshmen preview weekend or that the students there are just really nice, but my friend and I ended up with a ton of free stuff. But, thanks MIT for being swell ^_^.
This is going to probably be the last post of this semester (go finals yay -.-). With that, check out some pictures I took from this weekend. Yes, the post processing is a little different from what I normally do. Tell me what you think here.

Final Countdown

Long time no talk. It's been over two month, I know. But I'm finally able to take a breather from school. Now, I don't have any more exams until finals. Haha, it's the finals countdown. And as if the weather could read my mind, Boston was magically wonderful this weekend. Seriously, spring is finally here. I couldn't help to walk around (a total of 5+ miles) just enjoying that 70 degree weather. I didn't really take too many photos so here is just one of me (crying a little bit because I didn't think to wear shorts).

Breaking News: I am alive.
Let's get you up to date. After "disappointing" Juno a whole bunch of poop-storms started popping up like no tomorrow. Literally, there was no tomorrow with a whopping 96+ inches of snow, resulting in 5 snow days. I haven't had a full week of school since the beginning of the semester. It's all fun and games until you have to catch up with school. So...that's what I've been doing. Catching up. This is the first weekend I feel comfortable with where I am with my studies. And, it just so happens that it's the weekend after Lunar New Year. I basically spent the entire weekend celebrating with friends. It's times like these I can't help to get a little homesick, but I really appreciate my friends and our little renegade family for being there for me.
Along with good vibes, today was first day that it was above freezing point in Boston (THANK THE LORD). I decided to break out the camera to test some new editing techniques. Any opinions?

Dear Juno,
Though New York was under-whelmed by you, I think you fulfilled the weatherman's predictions pretty accurately. Plus, thanks for the snow days (much appreciated).
Of course I had to celebrate my first blizzard by going out and shooting. Here are some of my favorite shots of the day. I got a little bit too excited and I ran through a good 2 ft of snow. Note: this is not a good idea with a camera on your neck.

Today I picked up the pictures that I took with my mom's old film camera during winter break. I didn't exactly use a light meter, or focus properly. Oh well. ASTHETIC. Here are some of my favorite shots. Bless you, Walgreens, for making most of my photos visible and physical.
Side note: I'm actually surprised these came out so well, especially since the film is ~20 years old.

For some reason I never could fathom the idea of walking across a frozen pond. Nor did I imagine that ice could support my weight. But, I did it. I walked across a frozen pond. WOOHOO. TBH I am getting jealous of snapchats from my friends in Cali. enjoying the warm weather. But guess what? I AM WALKING ON WATER.

Boston is starting to look like a white winterland! I got a bit too excited, so I spent a good hour just walking around the Fens taking photos. Here are some of my favorite shots I took today. To see my other photos, visit my Flickr

I guess this year is in for a lot of changes, including my hair. LOL My hair was finally long enough to donate so I decided to chop it off. There is not much to say other than this is something I've been wanting to do for a while. I'm glad I did (:

T-minus 4 days until I go back to Boston. Do you think I can survive the snow without my hair scarf?? LOLOLOL

2015 issues

Vanity Fair Inspired

Happy New Year!!! Here's the first "issue" of the new year. Here are some current events (in my life):

album favorite: Zaba by Glass Animals- I've been replaying this album for the past 3 days now. Some of my favorite songs are Gooey, Pools, and Walla Walla. Their sound is freaking amazing. It might not be everyones favorite but-oh well.

face: winged eyeliner, highlight, and dark-tinted lips. I've been digging this look. This look is nice. LOL I don't have much to say other than that.

aesthetic: "Aesthetic" is something I've been hearing a lot recently. Jokingly or not. It's something I've been thinking about. I was looking through Vanity Fair's photos of 2014 and I got inspired by their aesthetic. I'm the type of person who likes to delve a little bit into everything. It's kind of hard to imagine having a certain aesthetic but I think it'd be really nice to be known for a certain style.

resolutions? goals right now: Experiment with my photography. Maybe find my aesthetic (if I have one). kick ass second semester. Do something I'm proud of.

There's no point of making resolutions when you're already doing what you want. "Goals" is a better word. What are some of your goals right now?
